The Optimism that brought Hoover into the White House also brought stock prices to new highs. The stock market experienced a long period of rising stock prices, which is refered to as a bull market. In the 1920's the bull market made it to where people wanted to invest in stocks. In 1929 10% of American people owned stocks. On October 21, 1929 the stock market began to crash and investers would have to hurry and pay back the stock brokers. On October 29 now know as the black Tuesday the stock market lost 10 billion to 15 billion dollars in value. By November the stock market dropped more then one-third. 30 billion dollars were lost, the stock market cause the economy to crash.
